Remember that the witches toy with the sailor simply because the sailor's wife insulted the first witch and refused to share her chestnuts with the old hag. Macbeth might demand all he wants, but the witches are going to toy with him all the same. The prophecies they give him remind one of the drawings like the one below--double-sided and misleading. Would you visit a fortune teller or have your palm read?
